hell yeah, nice nerdcast. thanks.
Encyclopedia Brown ROCKS.
MOSES IS NOW MY FAVORITE. SPIDERMAN IS THE MASTER.
Also, Ultimate MK3 for life. Seriously.
Also, there are only two MK movies. Third was canceled before its creation. The first one is amazingly bad, the second is unwatchable.
Shout-out, hells yeah.
I really enjoy the portions of the podcast that are basically “Facts I Read On The Internet That Are Probably Bullshit.”
Also, on the subject on Encyclopedia Brown: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BugsMeanyIsGonnaWalk
Thanks for the shout-out! That “cut to” joke is pretty good, but it would be even more in line with my sensibility if Frank Grimes said something like, “One thing’s for sure: I’ll never be dead and buried in the ground!” just before the cut.
As for Encyclopedia Brown, I think it’s kind of on the threshold of nerdiness because it was ubiquitous enough that there’s a good chance that someone of our generation who wasn’t a nerd would have encountered and read some of it without having actively sought it out the way a true nerd would. So I’m not suggesting it’s not nerdy, but I don’t think that merely referencing it is in itself a reliable indicator of nerdiness. Also: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/29537
Oh, and I must say I was pleased to hear Dave’s assessment of the Guitar Hero aesthetic vs. Rock Band’s rather generic characters and settings. For some reason it’s become pretty difficult to find anyone who will stick up for Guitar Hero now that it’s no longer developed by Harmonix, even though in many ways it’s superior (like Star Trek: The Next Generation). I could go on about this at length, but I should probably just start my own damn podcast.
Street Fighter II is better than Mortal Kombat, but the Mortal Kombat movie is better than the Street Fighter movie. I’m not sure how the Street Fighter II: The Movie game figures in, as I haven’t played it (unfortunately).
I think that’s all I had to say (I’m doing this from memory again).
Thanks for the excellent reply, S. David. I enjoyed it all, and hope that you continue to comment. I’d like to ask: was that Star Trek:TNG reference itself a reference to Wayne’s World?
-Dave
In my previous comment I incorrectly referred to “the Street Fighter II: The Movie game.” The actual title of the game is, of course, Street Fighter: The Movie. I deeply apologize.
Indubitably!
I still haven’t seen Star Wars, but I’m not worried about “Dave’s little sister” coming after me.
“Wikipedia Brown,” heh.

I haven’t listened to this podcast yet, but I just want to high five scott right now for the Wayne’s World reference (good catch, Dave. I’d be disappointed if you didn’t.). And scott: I’d mos def listen to your podcast.
Thanks for helping out w/ the boredom, nerds.
Now that I’ve listened: Mortal Kombat rips the heart out of Street Fighter’s chest! FACT!
