Loved the podcast guys. I'm thrilled you took my suggestion and thought you went down some interesting paths with it. I couldn't help but notice Campy practically cited the Paradox of Hedonism:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_hedonism

That definitely ties in to the future we as humanity are collectively building. I hope this is where we are headed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hedonistic_Imperative

"Abolitionism deliberately defines its rationale and method of determining value according to a prime ethical directive with a focus on eliminating involuntary suffering"

I just like the idea of voluntary suffering! Techno-BSDM will be a hot commodity in the future. Oh and sandwich fucking. (But you didn't post a link to the picture!)

I thought IUDs were amazing an amazing hybrid between science and magic, but after about 8 months of bad cramps after sex, my fiancé decided to get it taken out.

I just can't wait for male birth control... or virtual sex like in Demolition Man.

OK, levonorgestrel I will buy, that passes the lab coat test. But this whole "copper makes sperm stupid" thing sounds like some voodoo horseshit to me, even if it is 99% effective. Like people being all "vitamin C stops colds" or "magnets in my jewelry will prevent cancer" or "if I believe the universe is happy I will be rewarded with free pizza coupons." (Granted, none of the above have been proven 99% effective, but it's the same ballpark.)

Well, I have to disagree with you.

The IUD is certainly scientifically based as well, women didn't just start shoving things up their uterus and hope for the best! (I'd like to say this is 100% true, but there are the few stories you hear of women shoving potatoes and other things up there as birth control as well. However, I am choosing to pretend that this must be before ladies were more sexually liberated and educated)

First point: some IUD's are chemically/hormonally concocted. Just like the pill, they release the hormones into the body to control the cycle and thickness of the lining. They just do it in smaller doses because it is directly next to the affected area, and its over a longer period of time (5 years vs. 24 hr or 28 day cycles)

But, that being said, IUD's that are not hormonal still have a chemical-reaction aspect because of the copper. WebMD sums both kinds up nicely: "Both types of IUD prevent fertilization of the egg by damaging or killing sperm. The IUD also affects the uterine lining (where a fertilized egg would implant and grow)."

If I were a dude, and I hated babies (Or you are like me, a lady who hates the idea of having babies) - I'd go for the IUD. Its more effective, partially because of the close-to-home approach, and partially because you never have to make sure you are timing it right (even taking your pill a couple hours off can affect the effectiveness of hormones). IUD's help the lady friend be less hormonally crazy (bonus!) AND if somehow your lady friend does get knocked up, its an automatic abortion - it is nearly impossible to keep a viable fetus with the IUD.

Now, this does start to enter into a grey area ethically, and if you are opposed to abortion you may (or may not) be against the IUD for this reason. But that is a whole other issue that I don't think really warrants discussion here.

But in any case, rest assured that they IUD's are also created (and I can also vouch for, inserted) by scientists/doctors/nurses in lab coats!

Wanna see pictures?

See, here's the thing about IUDs. Let's say you're a dude and, as a dude, you hate babies. Picture these two scenarios:

1) "Hey, I'm using a method of birth control that's based on chemicals mixed by scientists in lab coats."

2) "Hey, I stuck a thing in my uterus and no one know why but it magically stops babies."

Here's another thought:

Maybe do one of those "who's line is it anyway" bits, where the missing track is someone, or all of you, making up dialog to make an ass out of the surviving tracks. That could be fun!

I was thinking that you guys would hear the tracks that survived. And would make an all-new podcast about it, so to speak. 321 squared. We, the audience, would not hear those tracks, only the new ones: those of you three talking about the tracks we cannot hear.

Offhand, it's the only thing I can think of to breath new life into the missing episode, and re-invent some of the magic that was lost. However, it runs the risk of alienating the audience. There's a good chance we would have little to no idea what was going on, and you guys might also be confused about what was missing.

If you managed to not talk "about" the missing podcast, and just re-visit the ideas mentioned, it may work out, but chances are it'd seem awfully canned, and prepped. The spontaneous charisma would be subdued if you're trying to re-capture it.

However, I do feel it has promise. And I really don't want to just give up on it. It's an interesting idea that may have some quirky angle that could be worked out. And I feel the 321s would be the guys to do it! Maybe get drunk, first.

Another idea that just occurred to me is that Dave could possibly recored a commentary with the other tracks, and fill us in on what was missing, either pausing, or as it goes. This, again, seems highly awkward, though.

All in all, it's probably a lost cause, but there is that small chance that the one path of awesome could be found in the sea of awkward, and you guys could come up with something fantastic. If I think of something clever, I'll let you know.

So I started listening to the podcast from the beginning (I originally came in around episode nineteen) and I just wanted to run some questions by you, the creators and fans, before I get in too deep:

- Is there a really suck-ass podcast (a "black market episode," if you will) that I should just skip?
- Any best podcast moments (a "that scene in "The Wire" where they just say "fuck" over and over" moment, if you will) I should prepare to relish discovering?
- Have you ever introduced an episode by doing the countdown and then making the "Podcast" part go all echoy and trippy for like three minutes and like drop a flanger on it and then start the podcast like nothing special happened? Because that would be sweet.

I spent a lot of time considering what you said. My instinct is that the process of recording more and editing more would lead to more time spent on nuts-and-bolts, and ultimately, fewer podcasts. However, I may try at least a quick trim-down in the next few episodes, and see how it goes.

I'm going to do something called Complement [kom-pli-mint] sandwich [sand-wich]
in which I give your podcast a compliment, then say something negative about the cast, followed by another compliment.

This podcast, is like my FAVORITE podcast.

IMHO the show seems like it would be a fair amount better with more recording and more editing, not that I know what your process is now, perhaps you could all rotate who edits from week to week, leading to hilarious reoccurring jokes where statements and sounds can be taken out of context. Idk really love the podcast just haven't liked it as much since the new format, if it were 40-45 minutes of straight talk and bits where you fully explore in a linear fashion 1-3 topics jumping back and forth organically as you please (which your already pretty great at) and the discussion of time and trying to be precise really kills. If theres an organic and linear progression why not spend an extra 10 minutes people listened when they were 90 minutes. Fuck I hope this is coherent as I am choosing not to read through the whole thing after completion. Also fuck mosses

btw: LOVE the idea of a d&d special

It might be interesting to do a commentary on the lost podcast. But where we can't hear the original two tracks. I'm not entirely sure how this would work, but it could be interesting, or it could be mind-blowingly terrible.

I like the 21 Shorts idea, too.

Also: I would like to see a return of the biography interview podcast that you guys did before. It was suggested at the time that you could incorporate drunkenness into the interviewee.
